Races

My first running race was the Yukon Arctic Ultra in 2004. That race opened a whole new world of discovery for me! I continued to compete in several ultra-marathons from 2004 to 2006. In this time I learned so much about myself, and about our ability to exceed mental and physical limits!

Below are some photos and notes from my favourite races.

Gobi March Team, China, 250km, 2006, 1st

This race takes place in visually stunning remote China. Another great RTP event. These folks know how to put on a race!
Libyan Challenge, 190km, 2006, 1st

190kms non-stop in an area of the world few westerners have seen. Experience everything 'deserty' in this one. Dunes, mountains, ancient graveyards...incredible.
Sahara Race, Egypt, 250km, 2005, 1st

250kms stage race through Egyptian Sahara. One of the most spectacular places I have ever been. I love this race! Part of the prestigious RacingThePlanet series of races.
Marathon des Sables, Morrocco, 250km, 2005 and 2004

Very popular and legendary. Been around for more than 20 years. I learned a lot about desert racing in this one. You get to run with some of the best.
Trans 333, Niger, 333km, 2004, 3rd

The name says it all. 333kms non-stop in the world's unforgiving deserts. I raced in Niger - the most amazing place I have ever experienced.
Jungle Marathon Solo, Amazon, 250km, 2004, 8th (1st Team)

You want tough jungle racing? Look no further. 200kms in dense Amazon.
Yukon Arctic Ultra, 160km, 2004, 1st
My first race! Different distances and disciplines in Yukon Territory. I race the 100 mile non-stop footrace. I am biased- it's in Canada!
